Video: Joaquin Phoenix rapping and falling off a stage
Is that really Joaquin Phoenix? If so, I empathize with his lack of balance, but applaud his magnificent beard.

A documentary about the rise and fall of the mellotron.

Like, drawings and shit.
Fleet Foxes perform “Mykonos” on SNL. Hilarious retro-tech, captioned video.

It should be noted that I owe T-Mobile nearly $100.

For a long time I’ve been fascinated with the distance between recollection and reality when it comes to art, and have been noodling around on ways to play with that gap. Sometimes we play a game around the house: Recall that plot in 1 minute or less. “The Brothers Karamazov” – GO! What inevitably follows is 40% insight into the piece in question, 40% insight into the person telling the story and 20% totally erroneous garbage. It’s great.
(FTR: “So there were these three brothers. Well, three and a half. One was angry and drunk, one was smart and one was religious. There was a monk whose dead body stank. Someone murdered someone. Then everyone got drunk. Then Ivan got sick. Then maybe the dad died? Some guy got his beard pulled. Something with a whore or a young consort-type woman. Then Alyosha prayed. Then I cried and cried and cried.”)
It’d be fun to capture and measure the delta between experience and literal reality when it comes to art, whether through a site with a simple text box that pops up a work of art and challenges the reader to summarize it within 1 minute or even a video aggregator with a similar goal.
Anyway, cool video.

This video has Daft Punk, toys, Barack Obama, music, a Speak ‘n’ Spell and weird light FX. OK?
Weezer offers up a remixed video for “Pork and Beans,” with some new internet stars.
Perhaps the video will be updated annually.
